I was not disappointed with Take a Chance, the 2nd book in the Vegas Heat series.Sean O'Brien is currently the playboy bartender at the Onyx Casino and member of the Reliance Group. When a case comes up that Sean ex-con experience is needed for he is more than happy to help out. The case is to find Grant Russo who is suspected of stealing millions of dollars from his casino investors. The kicker is Sean already knows the kind of con man Grant is due to the fact that Sean's father is serving 15 years in prison for a scam they committed together 12 years ago when Grant took a plea deal and got off Scott free while Sean's father rots in prison. Sean is out for revenge and this is his chance! Now for his assignment: get close to Zoe Russo, Grant's daughter, and see if she can lead them to her father. Problem is he doesn't plan on the instant chemistry they have!
Zoe is an up and coming jewelry designer who lives a simple life doing what she loves! She instantly clicks with Sean and starts to see the stars align until his true intentions are revealed she's taken back by his betrayal. But in an effort to clear her Dads name she decides to join force with TRG and help them track down her father. Lots of hard truths are revealed to her about her fathers deceitful past but nobody is prepared for happens next. Now faced with a second chance at love. Will Jessica let her past go and listen to her heart or will she shatter both their hearts again?

The second book in the Vegas Heat series is about Sean-ex con turned bartender, and his mark, Zoe. A high roller at the Onyx hired the Reliance Group to find Zoe's dad, who apparently swindled a lot of people out of their investment in a casino that hasn't been built. And-plot twist-Sean's dad is in jail because of Zoe's dad. So Sean has double the drive to find Grant Russo. Knowing Zoe is in need of a storefront for her new boutique, Sean poses as a leasing agent to get his in with her. What he wasn't expecting was to be drawn to her. With all of the things Sean is keeping from Zoe I had no idea how this book was going to end. I wasn't able to put it down until I read the last page. Phenomenal book!!
Intertwined was a bonus story about Jessica (Zoe's best friend) and Noah...a second chance book! Loved their story!! Jessica mysteriously broke up with Noah while he was away his freshman year of college, and he hasn't seen her until the day she walks into his nightclub in Vegas. Their story was so heart wrenching. Another masterpiece from Erika Wilde!
Two romances for the price of one. Best friends Zoe (an upcoming accessories designer) and Jessica (pop music star) both have a romance running in this book. The story opens with Sean, a cocky, charming bartender at the Onyx Casino in Las Vegas, who is also a reformed con man and part of Reliance Group (a privately hired investigative team) is looking for a con man, Grant, who scammed millions of dollars on a casino building scam and vanished. Sean's father is serving 15 years in jail because of Grant, so this is personal. Zoe is Grant's daughter. She is looking for a lease at a big name casino to open her first store for her accessories with style and bling that are about to launch internationally. Her friend and big Star, Jessica, is acting as her model. Sean poses as the lease agent for the hotel to get close to Zoe so he can find out if she is involved in Grant's scam or knows where he is. They have chemistry and are both fighting it, Sean because of the secrets he holds, and Zoe has been burned by her lying and cheating ex-fiance. They have a lot of communicating to do to find their happy ever after.
At the same time, Jessica runs into her first and only love, Nick, who manages a nightclub at Onyx. Jessica fled her home and Nick the fall after they graduated high school. Neither has gotten over each other in the 9 years since or been able to move on with relationships. They also have many things to resolve for a second chance love.
Both stories are well done and the book has some suspense and plot twists that will keep you guessing.
