If you yearn for the nicer superheroes of days gone by, this reprint collection is probably for you. The various short stories included in this book were previously reprinted in three separate comic books earlier this year. The fourth issue of that series is due out soon.Charlie Grant, our hero Mr. Jigsaw, is born with the ability from birth to detach his various body parts and mentally control them. This leads to many humorous situations as Charlies learns to use his abilities to fight crime. Mr. Jigsaw (affectionately known as "Jiggy") is the main character, of course, but there are several nice guys and gals to root for in these stories.
These stories originally appeared in comic books and internet web comics 1983 through 2003. I have enjoyed those stories all these years and am thrilled to have these first stories collected in a trade paperback.
So if you're interested in fun, silly, enjoyable stories that combine humor and drams and characters you can like and love - this book is for you.
However, if you already own the first 3 issues of the comic book that is reprinted in this trade paperback, there's not much in the way of extras.
I like the new front cover art by Gary Kato and the nice preview on the back cover of the art for the upcoming issue #4.
I personally love these stories so this trade paperback is worth the price to me even though I already have most of the contents from the previous three comic books included here.
I feel most people would enjoy these books. If you do buy this and have never read about the Adventures of "Jiggy" - you're in for a real treat. I envy those who discover these stories for the first time.

The Adventures of Mr Jigsaw Volume 3 Ron Fortier Gary Kato 9780615962108 Books Reviews
This trade paperback reprints issues 7 through 9 of the 2010-2011 MR. JIGSAW comic book series. In addition, it contains a bonus 7-page story titled "Pin Up Magic" that is a tribute to the pin-up calendar artist Gil Elvgren. The pin-up art is very nicely done by artist Brian Buniak. Charlie Grant (Mr. Jigsaw) is a nice young man who uses his special ability from birth to separate his body parts and control each part separately. Many of his fans affectionately refer to Mr. Jigsaw as "Jiggy". Jiggy uses his power in a wide range of situations from simply rescuing a scared kitten from under a house to fighting terrorists. Issue 7 is a 24-page story "The Secret Life of Charlie Grant" that contains a lot of humor in which Charlie dreams of fighting pirates and also being a James Bond-type secret agent. Issue 8 is a 24-page story story "Death of a Hero" that has serious subjects such as cancer, but includes quite a bit of humor and expands Jiggy's world with additional superheroes he meets. Issue 9 contains 3 stories totally 23 pages - "A Puzzle Called Charlie" in which university scientists test Jiggy's powers and his various body parts, "The Boring Captain Yawn" in which Jiggy has to figure out a way to defeat a bank robber who has the power to put everyone nearby to sleep by yawning, and "Mr. Jigsaw's Secret Love Child" in which a newspaper prints news about Jiggy's "love child" but turns out to be a misunderstanding. All 3 stories have a nice combination of drama and humor. These stories gave me a great deal of reading pleasure when the comic book issues were published and I always look forward to the trade paperbacks reprinting the previous 3 issues. If you haven't read any of Mr. Jigsaw's adventures, this is a excellent sampling of the types of stories that Jiggy stars in. Most people who read this will want the first two volumes and also volume 4, which has been recently released.
With MR. JIGSAW, writer Ron Fortier and artist Gary Kato creates something rarely seen today; a comic book which is actually comical! Don't get me wrong, MR. JIGSAW has all the real-to-life action, angst, drama, and verve of other comic books. The thing MR. JIGSAW delivers is a light and humorous side of life, expressing not the 'good ol' days' of the past, but the 'good nowadays'. The humor is believable, and fits in with modern day issues.
MR. JIGSAW is a bit Edlund's THE TICK with a tint of SPIDERMAN and a taste of CALVIN AND HOBBES. Despite these comparisons, the Fortier/Kato team makes this a strange and unique book. It returns to the comic book rack a true hero. MR. JIGSAW is a hero that has and deals with believable everyday problems with a quixotic attitude. MR. JIGSAW is a very enjoyable adventure for children and adults of all ages. This volume of the first three MR. JIGSAW comics is an indispensable addition to any comic collection.
